Overview
Waypoint is a reading app published by Hiddink Development. The app does not require a Waypoint account. Its reading content and recording library are stored locally on your device. This policy describes the current app; websites and services you deliberately open have their own privacy practices.
Reading content, page scans, and permissions
Waypoint stores pasted text, scanned page photographs, recognized text, unfinished intake drafts, saved reading sessions, reading progress, session notes, and reader preferences in its app storage on your device. Hiddink Development does not receive or host this material.
Camera access is optional and is used to capture pages you choose to scan. Optical character recognition, page correction, and crop editing use on-device processing. Original page photographs are retained so you can recover an unfinished scan, retry recognition, or change a saved crop. You can paste text without using the camera.
A captured page that cannot be read remains in its unfinished batch for retry, crop editing, or an explicit skip or discard. Keeping a batch for later retains its local photographs and page status. Accepting a batch and starting a session saves the accepted reading content and originals locally.
Support requests and public links
If you email support@hiddinkdevelopment.com, Hiddink Development receives the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond, troubleshoot, and maintain support correspondence where needed. Waypoint does not automatically attach your reading content, notes, page photographs, or recordings.
Opening the support, privacy, terms, or license website uses your browser. Website hosting and your browser may process ordinary request information such as an IP address. The website privacy policy applies to that browsing; it does not give the website access to your local Waypoint reading library.
Policy updates
This policy may be updated as Waypoint evolves. Material updates will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date.
Narration and microphone recordings
Read Aloud uses Apple’s on-device speech voices. Waypoint does not upload reading text or voice recordings to a third-party voice service. Narration does not require microphone permission.
If you choose to record yourself reading, Waypoint requests microphone access and saves the resulting audio file in its local recording library. Recordings are not uploaded automatically. If you choose Share file, the app or recipient you select receives that copy and handles it under its own practices.
App Store purchases
Premium purchases and purchase restoration are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Waypoint checks Apple-provided purchase status to enable premium features. Hiddink Development does not receive your payment card details, and no third-party subscription provider receives your reading material.
Apple handles your App Store account, payment information, and purchase records under its privacy policy. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
Tracking and analytics
The current Waypoint app has no advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDK. It does not upload reading history, page images, notes, or microphone recordings for analytics. Hiddink Development does not operate a server that collects your Waypoint reading content.
Keeping, deleting, and backing up local data
Unfinished drafts and captured batches remain in local app storage until you complete or discard them. Use Clear in Intake, Discard Batch, or the confirmed new-session discard action to remove the relevant unfinished draft or captured batch.
Deleting a saved reading session in History removes its local text and session notes and attempts to remove original page photographs that are exclusive to that session. A photograph needed by another saved session is retained. If original files cannot safely be checked or removed, Waypoint keeps them and reports the problem rather than risk deleting another session’s data.
Deleting a reading session does not remove the separate audio recording library. Deleting the app from your device removes its local app storage; offloading the app preserves that storage. Apple device backups may include app data depending on your backup settings. Backups and copies of files you previously shared must be managed separately through Apple or the recipient.
Privacy questions
For questions about Waypoint privacy or information you deliberately sent to support, contact support@hiddinkdevelopment.com. We cannot access or remotely delete your local reading library.
